Ivan Katchanovski is a falsifier of the Maidan massacre and contemporary history of Ukraine

Ivan Katchanovski produced the pseudo-scientific paper named "The “Snipers’ Massacre” on the Maidan in Ukraine" which is based on the deliberate falsifications of the Maidan events.
Everyone who closely scrutinizes his paper sources and other videos about the Maidan in Ukraine will come to conclusions that the Ivan Katchanovski's paper The “Snipers’ Massacre”  
on the Maidan" is a total falsification.  Particularly, Ivan Katchanovski on purpose ignores the overwhelming majority of shootings on many videos where people were killed from  the
direction of the police "Berkut" barricade on Instituska street in Kiev. If everyone closely examines Ivan Katchanovski's source videos which he utilized in his paper named
"The “Snipers’ Massacre” on the  Maidan in  Ukraine", everyone will notice many shootings into Maidan protesters from the direction of police on Institutska street in Kiev.

There are  can not be downplayed or discounted a few episodes on videos where a few bullets might be shot at the back of protesters. However, it is very hard to judge without
forensic investigations that these shootings were actually made from the behind of protesters.

The Ivan Katchanovski's sources and videos used in his fake paper named "The “Snipers’ Massacre” on the Maidan in Ukraine" do NOT corroborate his conclusions in his  false research that
Maidan protesters were shot from the locations controlled by Maidan forces.

To support his claim that Maidan protesters were shot at their backs, Ivan Katchanovski refers to the video episode showing a bullet hit a tree as  the proof that this bullet was fired from
the hotel under control of protesters. In realty, this bullet was fired from  the opposite direction -- the direction of the police barricade on Institutska street.  Videos show  the moment
when bullet exited  from the opposite side of the tree. The small fountain on  the tree from hitting bullet on the video  indicates that this video  episode demonstrates the leaving bullet
from the opposite side of the tree.

The mass murder of Maidan protesters by government police from the Berkut police barricade and other locations controled by government police and security forces is evidenced by the pattern of bullet holes on poles, trees, the stone flower box and  hotel walls that were created by bullets fired from the directions of government police and security. The spatial pattern of bullet holes and traces alongside Institutska street also proves the fact that Berkut police targeted and shot advancing Maidan protesters, not fired warning shots, since the  spatial pattern of bullet holes and traces coincides with  positions of Maidan protesters on many photos and videos. Had any Katchanovski's mysterious “Maidan snipers” shot at protesters (how Ivan Katchanovski falsely claims in his fake research),  these shots would have created many bullet holes and traces from the directions of Maidan controlled locations alongside the Institutska street on an overwhelming majority photos and videos.  However, there are no bullet holes and traces on numerous pictures and videos from the directions of Maidan controlled locations. Aforesaid circumstances  proof the fact of the mass murder of Maidan protesters by Berkut police from the directions of police locations. As was many times reiterated, Maidan protesters seized a few firearms from  local police and security facilities, and used them only against Berkut police, not other friendly Maidan protesters.

According to the narrative on  34 , 37, 38  - 45 , 52  pages of Katchanovski’s research, many shots were fired from the roof of the Bank Arkada. However, Ivan Katchanovski did not explain how his “Maidan snipers” broke through the armed security of the Bank Arkada. Ivan Katchanovski pretends as though he is unaware about the existence of an armed security of the Bank Arkada, and the fact that every bank employs an armed security to guard bank money and valuables against potential armed bank robbers. Had Katchanovski's mysterious "Maidan snipers" attempted to enter the Bank Arkada building, they would have encountered armed resistance of the Bank Arkada security. However, there are no available  evidences of any attempts to fight or compromise the Bank Arkada security by Maidan protesters. Under the Ukrainian legal system, only the government police and security has legal right to enter any privately guarded premises and locations, including banks, and the guardians ( private security ) of such premises and locations must yield to lawful demand of the government police and security. Therefore, only government snipers had real chance to enter the guarded Bank Arkada and shoot at Maidan protesters. In addition, the entrance of the Bank Arkada is located on the Olhyns'ka  street which,  according to the map on the 18-th page of  Katchanovski’s "research"

However, Katchanovski does not provide any proofs that this area was under control of the Maidan. Actually, this territory was rather under control of the government police and security as this territory contains roads and other approaches leading to the positions of Berkut police, government security, and government buildings. Therefore, only government snipers could shot at protesters from this area, not any Katchanovski's mysterious "Maidan snipers" how he falsely states in his pseudo-scientific research.

Striking revelation about Ivan Katchanovski’s falsifications

Unfortunately for this Katchanovski falsification, there are many photographs shot from various directions and angles which vividly show the entrance and exit bullet holes on this tree , including the pictures of the entrance bullet hole which determinedly indicate that bullet was fired from the Berkut police barricade. According to these photos, a bullet fired from a direction of the Berkut police barricade and from a shallow angle created the small entrance bullet hole and big exit bullet hole on this tree. In addition, this video https://ok.ru/video/11099769456  from 4:00 minutes clearly explains how a bullet fired from the Berkut police barricade made the entrance and exit bullet holes on this tree.  

Does Ivan Katchanovski know about these photos? Yes, of course!!! He was aware about these pictures since he utilized the photos source websites in his bogus research for other purposes.  Ivan Katchanovski should have presented these photos in his paper, indicating the bullet direction from the Berkut police barricade. He must have told the truth that bullet hit this tree from a direction of the Berkut police barricade. Instead, Ivan Katchanovski blatantly lied to his readers and to his fellow scientists that a bullet was fired from a direction of the Hotel Ukraina. To uphold this falsification, he cited the erroneous non-expert testimonies of the Belgian journalist and Ukrainian deputy who are not forensic experts and who never examined the entrance and exit bullet holes on the tree from any close distance. Katchanovski also lied about an official investigation of GPU as though GPU concluded that a bullet hit the tree from a direction of the Hotel Ukraina. GPU never made such conclusion!

Ivan Katchanovski falsified the circumstances of the killing of Ustym Holodniuk who died from a bullet of government security forces on February 20, 2014.  In his deceptive and bogus paper of "The “Snipers’ Massacre” on the Maidan in Ukraine",  which he proudly and pompously call  “scientific research”, Ivan Katchanovski falsely states   “exit bullet hole in the left side of his blue helmet and his position at the moment of this shot in the Svoboda activist video indicate that Ustym Holodniuk was killed at 9:54am from the direction of the Hotel Ukraina,  which was on the opposite side from the Berkut and Omega-manned barricade.”

The new untruth of Ivan Katchanovski on the murder of Ustym Holodnyuk
In his new version of his "scientific research" named The Maidan Massacre in Ukraine: Revelations from Trials and Government Investigations, Ivan Katchanovski acknowledges that Ustym Holodnyuk was murdered from opposite direction, from the Museum Lane, not from the Hotel Ukraina, how he stated earlier.

Without any evidences, Ivan Katchanovski lies that the Museum Lane was under control of Maidan protesters.

Problems with Katchanovski “witness testimonies” in his Video Appendix B

The absolute majority of Katchanovski "witnesses" of snipers in his Video Appendix B https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU0jxKJ4LaY are not witnesses by definition since witnesses by definition are people who directly and immediately saw and heard witnessed events. During Maidan events, people used to retell other people stories and rumors which Katchanovski misrepresented them as original witness accounts in this Video Appendix B: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU0jxKJ4LaY . Katchanovski must look up the definition of words “witness testimony”, and, to be honest researcher, he must give an advance notice in his Video Appendix B that the retold stories and rumors of other people actually are not witness testimonies.


One of the big problems with Ivan Katchanovski “research” is the intentional omitting and ignoring of opposite evidences and testimonies about bullets fired from the area controlled by government police and security forces. For example, Katchanovski refers to Trapezun testimony during an investigative experiment on 7:15 minutes of his Video Appendix B. However, Trapezun in the court changed his opinion about the bullet direction. Starting on 1:07 minutes of court video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI2eS5Xfwt0 , he explained that he initially imagined the Maidan protesters were fired from the Hotel Ukraina, and he later became sure about killing Maidan protesters from the police barricade after the performance of the investigative experiment. Trapezun said he did not see a moment of firing and he only initially imagined the bullet direction from the Hotel Ukraina. After the investigative experiment he changed his opinion. Katchanovski dishonestly omitted this critical episode from his “research” and Video Appendix B.

Many spoken stories of Katchanovski Video Appendix B refer to shootings from the Bank Arkada, Museum Lane, Cabmin and Kyivmiskbud. However, according to numerous publicly available videos and other evidences, Maidan protesters never approached these locations which were firmly under control of the government police and security forces during the Maidan massacre. Also, it must be noted that Cabmin and Kyivmiskbud were located deep in the rear of the front line of government police and security forces during the massacre.


Ivan Katchanovski also mistranslated the spoken stories on his Video Appendix B. For example, on 21:15 minutes of Video Appendix B a policeman said that police saw people without weapons on building roofs and police only assumed that other people on building roofs have weapons. Ivan Katchanovski mistranslated this episode that people on building roofs have weapons.
